Our Humble Roots

Founded by N R Broussard in 1947, Broussard Brothers began with one tugboat providing rig services out of Chalmette, Louisiana. In the many years since, our company has grown to become a multifaceted business that provides everything from marine and land construction to a wide range of related services.

Our Milestones

1947

The company was founded with one tugboat in Chalmette, LA to serve the oilfield industry.

1959

We relocated and opened a full-service loading dock facility in Intracoastal City, LA to complement the growing oilfield needs.

1970s

We acquired marine construction barges, allowing us to offer dredging, levee work, and installation of bulkheads, keyways, and rock pads. The Intracoastal City facility expanded with the purchase and development of one mile of waterfront property on the Intracoastal Waterway for customer dock leases, many of whom remain today.

1980s

The first pipe lay barge was added to our marine fleet to enable us to lay, jet, and bury various sizes and lengths of pipe.

1990s

We continued to grow our marine fleet, doubled our workforce, and diversified our business by providing loading and unloading of grain to meet the needs of our agricultural customers.

2018

Further diversifying our services, we expanded our capabilities by adding the Land Construction Division to serve the pipeline installation and maintenance needs of the midstream market.

Our Intracoastal City Dock & Crane Facility

In 1959, Broussard Brothers relocated to Intracoastal City, where the family expanded their services by developing six acres of low-lying marshland into what is now a one-mile stretch of developed waterfront property. A first-rate dock and crane facility was created, offering spaces for rent as well as cranes, roustabout crews, fuel, and other related supplies and services.

Our Evergrowing Fleet

Over the years, the company has also expanded from that first, single tugboat to encompass a large fleet of marine and oilfield construction vessels.

Third-Generation Family Business

Today, Broussard Brothers is a third-generation family business that continues to grow by developing new and better ways to serve our customers and expand our assets. We have built an excellent reputation by delivering quality services at a fair price for more than 70 years – and we pledge to continue our tradition of providing our customers with outstanding, reliable work for many years to come.
